Stay Engaged, Stay Active
Everyone benefits when everyone is connected and involved. Find a new passion, go on an adventure and push boundaries by not letting age define your limits. Invite creativity and purpose into your life by trying new activities to bring in more growth, joy and energy. Stay active by volunteering, working, and participating in programs and activities at the Y.

Stay Engaged
As our community continues to grow, so does the need for inclusive and engaging spaces that cater to our diverse population. Among the most important groups to consider are our YMCA active adults (YAAs), who are seeking ways to stay fit, socially connected, and mentally engaged. Expanding activities for this demographic in a new facility presents a unique opportunity to promote health, wellness, and community cohesion. This expansion is not just a project—it’s a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our valued senior population.
Our new facility will open doors, in early 2026, to more opportunities for connection, learning, and joy than ever before. At the heart of this vision is our commitment to combat loneliness and create a place where people, especially seniors, feel welcome and part of something greater. As Cathy Mason, Y Active Adult Director, wisely notes, “providing an environment where people feel connected helps fight isolation and depression”. With this in mind, we are designing spaces and programs that encourage friendships, conversations, and a true sense of belonging.
Stay Active
Engaging in regular exercise, whether through group classes or individual workouts helps maintain strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular health. Many adults find joy in low-impact activities like walking, swimming, or cycling, which are gentle on the joints while still providing a great workout. We offer specialized programs tailored to the needs and interests of active adults, including yoga, water exercise, and Pickleball. These activities not only promote physical health but also foster social connections, enhancing mental well-being and creating lasting friendships. Access to the main YMCA building and its programs continues to require an active YMCA membership.

We have solidified the first partnership program. Starting in January, we will host a Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program. This 12-month program includes 16-weekly group sessions over 6 months and follow up to include 6 monthly sessions to help maintain healthy habits. We will host an information session on Wednesday, January 7 for this program. Participants are asked to bring their Medicare and Insurance card, as well as copy of their A1c fasting glucose lab results. Contact Cathy Mason for additional information about this program and other activities for seniors.
