Summer Camp

YMCA camps give you peace of mind while you are at work. The program assures that the learning, fun and character-building experienced during the school year, continues into the summer months. The activities are designed to keep your child’s mind and body active while nurturing the Y’s core values: caring, faith, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Registration opens:

  • Monday, April 8, 2024 for members
  • Monday, April 22, 2024 for potential members

$25 registration fee and updated immunization records due at the time of registration, as well as a $25 deposit per week of camp. Financial assistance is also available.

Full-Day Camp

Fun Factory and Teen Scene

Fun Factory is our camp for ages 3-10 held at the YMCA. This is our traditional indoor camp,  held at the YMCA main building. It is specialized to stimulate the spirit, mind and body with fun academic activities to help keep the camper’s brain stimulated over the summer break to prevent learning loss. We will engage the kids in various energizing, independent physical activities (Yoga, Zumba, Nature Walks etc.). Children  must WEAR CLOSED-TOE SHOES. Parents must provide lunch for their children. Three year-olds must be potty-trained.

Teen Scene is available for campers 11-14. Teens will enjoy a fun filled days of arts, crafts, games and field trips designed for them. Participants must bring lunch everyday. Breakfast and snack will be provided. CLOSED TOE SHOES must be worn daily.

Camp Mac Boykin

Camp Mac Boykin is an outdoor camp great for your 7 -14 year old.

This outdoor camp focuses on building friendships, learning new skills and having some rugged fun in the sun. This camp is beautifully nestled on more than 50 acres of land with a natural swimming area with water features and activities. Campers will meet at the YMCA starting at 7:30 am and depart at a strict 8:30 am. Campers return to the Y by 4:30 pm. Campers must be picked up by 6:00 pm. Campers must bring their own lunch and water bottle.

Registration:

  • Please bring a $25, one-time, enrollment fee along with a copy of your child’s immunization records to the Sumter Family YMCA.
  • A $25 deposit per child, per week,  is also required at registration.
  • You may mix and match camp sessions throughout the summer (a week at Camp Mac Boykin, a week at Fun Factory, a week at a specialty camp, etc.)
  • Due to the many facets involved with summer camp, online registration is not available.

Cost:

Members:  $150/week – 2024

Potential Members: $225/week – 2024

A $25 weekly deposit is due at the time of registration. The remaining balance is due the 10 days prior to the start of each weekly camp.  Registration and any changes must be completed by this deadline for each week that your child is registered. A $10 late fee will be applied after the deadline.  There will be no changes made in the middle of the session unless proper documentation from a physician is provided.

Financial assistance is available.

Specialty Camps

Specialty camps are offered for half days with the option to extend to a full day by adding Special Camp Extension. Details below:


Aquatics Camp

Swimmers will have an exciting week of water fun.  Each day will include – 1 hr of swim lesson instruction, scheduled activities, competitions, outdoor splash pad time as well as free swim.  Please make sure to pack a small snack for mid-morning after swim lessons as well as plenty of water to drink.

*Swimmers registered for Swim-n-Gym must pack a lunch. After lunch at the Main Y, campers will ride our bus to the Gymnastics Center located at 220 Pine St.  Pick up from Gymnastics Center by 4:00 pm, unless registered for extended care.

Ages: 9 – 14 years (15 participants max)

Hours: 7:30 am – 11:30 am

Gymnastics Camp

Campers will have a flipping good time at our gymnastics center located at 220 Pine Street! Our dedicated coaching staff will provide age appropriate instruction, ensuring gymnasts grasp the understanding of proper shapes and use of equipment. Each day campers will rotate through all 4 events, safely developing skills through fun games and drills. Please pack a snack to send with your child. Must have completed K5 to register. Transportation from the main Y is provided to those registered in Aquatics Camp or Specialty Camp Extension.

*Gymnasts interested in a full week of all day fun are encouraged to register for Aquatics Camp at our Main Y.  Those registered in  Swim-n-Gym will have transportation options between both Y locations.

Ages: 5 – 12 years (15 participants max)

Hours: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Registration:

  • Please bring a $25, one-time, enrollment fee along with a copy of your child’s immunization records to the Sumter Family YMCA.
  • A $25 deposit per child, per week,  is also required at registration.
  • You may mix and match camp sessions throughout the summer (a week at Camp Mac Boykin, a week at Fun Factory, a week at a specialty camp, etc.)

Potential Members:  $150/week

Children will not need a lunch for gymnastics camp (unless they are in the extended care). Children will need to be dressed for physical activity and bring a water bottle that can be refilled.


Athletics Camp

Ages: 7-12 years

If you child enjoys basketball, here’s a camp for them. your child will learn the fundamental skills of basketball while embracing Christian principles. Please send campers with water and a packed lunch. Camp day runs 7:30 am – 11:30 am with specialty camp extension care options for full day of care.

Dates: June 24 – 28 & July 15 – 19

Registration:

Specialty Camp Extended Care

Specialty Camp Extended Care is available to campers attending aquatics or gymnastics specialty camp. Campers start their day in the Community Health Room located near the front entrance of the YMCA. Counselors will assist with transferring campers to their specialty camp in the morning. At the end of their day, campers are escorted to extended care with the Fun Factory camp in our Youth Department.

Ages: 5-14 years (15 participants max)

Dates: offered along side specialty camps

Hours: 7:00 am until specialty camp begins, then from the end of specialty camp until 6:00 pm

Cost:

Members:  $50/week

Potential Members:  $75/week
